Mountain Jay

The Mountain Jay combines elements from its narrower wasted brethren, namely the Cardinal's groomer and carving performance and Kingfisher's playfulness, with the Heron's surf through deep snow.

The Jay carries a wide platform and perfect rocker profile for greater stability and superior float for soft snow skiing. Rarely does a wider ski blur the lines between all mountain and big mountain like the Jay.

For many this bird will become a single choice for everyday skiing, or a perfect wider ski addition to the quiver.

The more I ski on the Parlors that you made for me, the more I like them. Now my favorite ski. Very maneuverable and run great in the bumps and in the woods. When the trails were filling in with snow this past Sunday afternoon they were great as well. At the same time, very stable when going faster on the groomers...

Very versatile; will grip on hard pack, stable on the groomers when going fast, at the same time the geometry, flex and lightness work very well in the woods and moguls. But they are stiff enough so that they won’t chatter when going faster.

I really like these skis …. a lot.

Hey Mark! I LOVE my skis. They are making me SO happy. I can't help but smile when I ski on them (well, smile more than I usually do when I ski). You should totally come to Sugarbush!

Mtn Jay
Surfy-Smooth Peterbilt Crud Busters With Trench-Digging Option Built-In. When you get it on snow, you realize you need to adjust your preconceptions of how reverse-camber skis handle, because the Parlor Mountain Jay can rip GS-like trenches when flexed fully into the snow, yet be playfully loose and eager to change directions without any insecurity traditionally associated with reverse-camber designs.

Cardinal 100
Frontside bird of prey with a strong constitution that begs to be driven hard. Must. Go. Faster… Must. Press. Harder...

Yo Mark. Just another shout out on the boards. Busting through wet Stowe pow today like dust . When you interviewed me You told me I'd find them much more supple than my prior crud busters. Well Supple they are and that's all I keep saying with each turn.

I HAVE SKIED AT MAD RIVER GLEN FOR OVER 45 YEARS AND I HAVE TO SAY THAT I HAVE NEVER TRIED A SKI THAT HANDLED EVERY BIT OF WHAT MAD RIVER HAS TO DISH OUT LIKE THE CARDINAL. FROM STEEP NARROW TO MOGULS AND THE FEW GS TURNS IN BETWEEN THEM.

THREE GUYS OUT OF CAMBRIDGE ARE MAKING THESE SKIS OUT OF THE PARLOR OF AN OLD FUNERAL HOME AND THEY ARE FANTASTIC! AS AN EX-RACER THEIR CARDINAL SKI DID EVERYTHING I WANTED THEM TO WHEN I PUSHED THEM TO THE EDGE. THEY DID SLALOM TURNS, CUT RIGHT INTO THICK ICE, AND PLAYED IN THE EDGES OF THE TRAIL.
- Meg, Maine
THE PARLOR GUYS SENT ME OFF WITH A DEMO SET OF CARDINALS FOR A TRIP TO JACKSON HOLE. THE NIGHT WE GOT BACK, I POSTED MY OLD SKIS TO CRAIGSLIST. I JUST COULDN’T SEE MYSELF GOING BACK TO THEM - FOR ME, THERE WAS JUST NO COMPARISON...

WE HAVE BEEN FORTUNATE TO TAKE THE FULL PARLOR LINE OUT ON THE WIDEST RANGING TERRAIN, FROM THE HARD-PACKED OF NEW ENGLAND RESORTS, TO CHAMPAGNE POWDER OF THE ROCKIES AND MOST RECENTLY TO THE BIG MOUNTAIN LINES OF THE EUROPEAN ALPS. THEY ARE INCREDIBLY STABLE, AGILE AND DYNAMIC, WHILE ALSO CARRYING AN ELEMENT OF FUN AND PLAYFULNESS - ALL OF WHICH IS A NOD TO MASTERFUL CONSTRUCTION. AT THIS STAGE, WE WOULDN’T WANT ANYTHING ELSE ON OUR FEET.
- Dave & Greg, Boston & Denver
THE PARLOR TEAM WAS FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL EVERY STEP OF THE WAY, AND EVEN HELPED ME FIGURE OUT MY PREFERRED RIDING STYLE. THIS YEAR, I’M LOVING MY CUSTOM PAIR OF CARDINALS IN ALL CONDITIONS.

camber profile

Camber describes the bottom profile of the ski and is a significant design factor.

reverse camber w/ early-rise tip & tail

Reverse camber (or "rocker") is when the tips and tails do not contact the snow when the ski lays flat. Reverse camber makes the ski more playful and easier to pivot off trail, without sacrificing much edge grip.

flex

To help provide the best fit possible Parlor makes each ski in three flexes: soft, medium and stiff. Flex is determined through height/weight and skier style. The right flex allows a skier to access all of the contact points and performance of the ski: so the skier controls the ski and not the other way around. Medium is the default choice and appropriate for most riders.

core type

The best skis in the world have a wood core, and Parlor makes skis with solid aspen, solid maple, or a combination of maple and aspen. These are tested and proven woods for high ski performance. Aspen has lighter, snappy properties and recommended for lighter weight skiers or backcountry skiers concerned with weight. Maple is a heavier, damper wood recommended primarily for fast cruising on groomers or to those who may like metal. Maple/aspen combines the best of both and is recommended for most uses.
