Inside The Parlor: Tim McClellan

Cover Photo: Tim Fater

Tim McClellan is the newest member of the Parlor team. Currently, he's doing a great job at making all of us extremely jealous with a road trip that would tick off a few boxes on any skier's bucket list. This is nothing new for the former President of the UVM freeskiing team, last year Tim and some buddies bought an old school bus, modified it to sleep seven, and toured around the west filming and skiing powder. So yeah, like I said, Tim's good at making us jealous. Tim swung by the shop in Eastie the other day to design his custom Parlors, so we took some time to sit down and get to know him a little better. Tim is currently out west with one of our favorite pairs of Parlors, the Biggie skis, so get to know him here, and then go follow along with his trip on Instagram

How old were you when you learned to ski?

TM: I was 3.

Tell us your life story as seen through skiing (skip all that boring stuff that doesn't involve playing in the snow)

TM: My dad taught me to ski in a little ditch behind our house the first year that we moved to Vermont. After that we started skiing at Cochrane's and Bolton Valley, where they used to have a free rop-tow that my dad would bring me and my brothers to. After that we would split our time between MRG and Bolton, Saturdays at MRG, Sundays at Bolton. When I was 12 I started skiing at the MRG Free-skiing team. Senior year of high school I was awarded the Flyin Ryan scholarship, after that I went to UVM. At UVM I started skiing with the UVM freeskiing team, which is based out of Stowe. Sophomore year I became an officer of the freeskiing team, and my senior year I was the president. One of my main goals as president was to bring more people out to the STE Freeride tour events, where I was also competing. Last year 7 of my friends and I bought an old school bus and converted it into a home. We drove the bus across the country skiing where ever we could, and documented it in a series called Notion(see episode 1 below.) Currently, I'm coaching the MRG Free-skiing team.

What's your favorite mountain in New England?

TM: MRG

Tell us about the most epic ski day of your life.

TM: Two winters ago I took a road trip to Bozeman, and the first day that we got there we skied Bridger Bowl. We had never skied the mountain before, and had no idea where we were going, but it was bottomless all day.

What do you like about working with Parlor?

TM: I think it's cool to be involved with a company where you can know all of the employees personally.

Favorite Apres beverage?

TM: PBR

You're about to embark on a pretty epic road trip. Anything in particular that you're looking forward to?

TM: Looking forward to getting redemption on Teton Pass where I broke my arm last year. I'm also really looking forward to checking out Bellingham and Mt. Baker, also stoked to ski Revelstoke for the first time.
