Process
The first step in building your custom ski isn't about numbers, it's about you. We sit down and talk about your home mountain, your favorite runs, even that one turn that just makes you smile. Why? Because a ski shouldn't be something you have to fight. By understanding exactly how and where you ski, we can build a ski that feels intuitive from the very first turn. It will feel less like a piece of equipment, and more like an extension of you.
Platforms
The most important step in designing your ski's performance is choosing the right "Platform." Our proven shapes—from Carving to All-Mountain to Powder—serve as the starting point for every Full Custom build. By matching your unique skiing style to the right platform, we establish the core personality of your ski. This ensures it has the right DNA from the very beginning, allowing us to then fine-tune all the other details like the core, flex, and profile to create your perfect, one-of-a-kind ride.
Edge Profile
The profile of your ski—its curve from tip to tail—is probably the most important design choice we make. A ski with more traditional camber gives you incredible edge grip; it feels locked-in and powerful on firm snow. A ski with more rocker will float effortlessly in powder and feel surfy and easy to pivot. Why customize it? So your ski feels at home in your conditions. You get tenacious grip when you need it, and effortless float when you get the goods.
Core
At the heart of every ski is its wood core—that's the engine. We use different woods, like powerful Maple or lively Aspen. Why does this matter? Because the core determines the ski's personality. A Maple core will feel incredibly damp and stable, smoothing out ice and chatter when you're skiing fast. An Aspen core will feel light and energetic, making the ski feel poppy and quick in the trees. We choose the right wood to give you the exact on-snow feel you're looking for.
Flex Profile
Have you ever been on a ski that felt planky and hard to turn, or one that felt unstable at speed? That’s all about the flex. That's why we customize it. By precisely milling the core to match your weight and power, we build a ski that you can easily bend into a turn, but that will still feel powerful and supportive when you pick up speed. It’s the key to a ski that feels both responsive and predictable.
The Laminate Layup
The layers of fiberglass, carbon, and sometimes metal that surround the core are like the ski's suspension system. And why does that matter? It completely changes how the ski feels on snow. Adding carbon fiber makes the ski feel incredibly light and energetic—perfect for touring. Adding a sheet of metal makes it super damp and quiet, killing vibrations when you're skiing fast through rough conditions. We create the perfect recipe of these materials to give you the exact ride you've been looking for.
Graphics
Performance is everything, but a custom ski should also be a piece of art that’s completely yours. You'll work one-on-one with a Parlor designer to bring your vision to life. Why is this so important? Because when you step into your bindings and look down at a ski that tells your story, the connection is different. It’s more than just a tool you bought; it becomes a part of your skiing identity, and that's a feeling you can't get off the rack.
Build
So after all the design work, every single pair of skis is built by hand, right here in our East Boston shop. And the reason that matters is the attention to detail. When a craftsman is laying up your specific materials and hand-tuning your edges, there's a level of precision you just can't get from an assembly line. On the snow, that translates to a feeling of quality and confidence. You can trust what's under your feet.
